OK, Mrs. Johnsey, I'm all done with the first part of the course. I learned a lot! It was fun! I like geometry. I especially like the fact that it makes you think!! Proofs! wow great methods, huh?
And the geometry collection is great, too. Writing stuff down and drawing diagrams serves to fix things in your mind all the more. I think I'll need to make a new one now. I can't add that much more paper to it... it's pretty thick!

I have taken 3 of Instructor Johnsey's courses.
I really enjoyed them. These are high quality courses. I wish that she was teaching more math classes on-line because I would take more of them. After I took Instructor Johnsey's math courses, I went on went on to take a Middle School Math teaching exam and became certified as a middle school math teacher.

My daughter needed to take Algebra I and was overlooked at her middle school. She signed up for Mrs. Johnsey's course. It is affordable and the content was more expansive than what my son had taken in public school! We could not have been more pleased. She was always there and timely on everything. All questions were answered and my daughter had one-on-one help. The text book she used is the best I have seen for math! She completed the course with excellent scores and in time for high school credit. Mrs. Johnsey has a unique way of making sense out of math! Since then, we have used her tutoring help with my son and plan to conintue doing so this year! I highly recommend taking math with Mrs. Johnsey.

I would totally recommend Mrs. Johnsey to any of my friends that want to get ahead in math and earn some more math credits! I took Geometry, and it was very convenient because I could do it on my own time and schedule. This class is also very affordable compared to like Kaplan and other online classes!

Would you take another class from me?
I would take another class from you, and am signed up for the second semester of Geometry.

Would you recommend it to a friend or teacher?
Yes, I would.

Has it been too easy or too hard?
I think it has been the right amount, because you give enough work for me to learn, but also don't give a workload that would overwhelm someone.

How many weeks did it take you to complete 1 semester of work?
It took me 15 weeks to complete this semester, but that was with taking breaks during the week and weekends.

What have you learned about parallel lines, triangles, proofs, logic, and parallelograms?

I have learned that parallel lines can help you to solve many proofs and help you to find the measure of different angles. You can use the CPCTC Postulate to prove different parts of a pair of congruent triangles congruent and that there are many different kinds of triangles. Proofs make me think in a logical way and force me to understand each step that I use to prove something. I learned that logic is very important in geometry to prove many different theorems and postulates. Parallelograms have supplementry adjacent angles and also, like triangles, can be classified as different types of parallelograms.
Thank you.

Use Ms. Johnsey for tutoring. You don't have to leave or meet, very convenient and really helpful.

i decided to take this class because i wanted to learn geometry on my own and keep learning over the summer. she is very helpful and answers your questions in a very timely manner. i love the fac that you can move at your own pace and in my case it was very fast as i completed two semesters in a matter of a summer. she makes thing very easy to understand and relates it well to the book. thank you so much susan johnsey for making geometry a breeze.

I am a high school student who is homeschooled. I signed up for Susan Johnsey's online geometry class first semester. It was quite good and amazingly detailed. She would write back quite quickly after I sent her an assignment or asked her a question. I would recomend this course to one of my friends. I will probably take the second semester of Geometry, but I found this course to go over everything more than neccesary and I found it a little redundant and overexplanitory. It is a great course and the repeditiveness of this course is my only complaint. Overall it is awesome and I would recomend it, especially if you like extra practice problems.

I am a 67 year old grandmother and wanted to be able to help my granddaughters with their Algebra. I tried one semester of visiting their eighth grade class and it just wasn't working so I decided on this online class. I must say it was the best thing I could have done. Mrs. Johnsey's lessons were far more easier to follow than the book, she always responded to my questions and I learned a lot using the box method. If I decide to take Algebra 2 it will DEFINETLY be Mrs Johnseys Math-in-a-box.

I just finished the first semester of Algebra 2. I learned a lot, especially about factoring, fractional exponents, radicals and slopes. Mrs. Johnsey responds promptly to questions and grades assignments and test quickly. The website is easy to use and instruction videos are included. I plan to take the second semester of Algebra 2.

I used Math in a Box to finish the second semester of algebra 1. The class was easy to follow and covered the content in a thorough manner. You can do the work at a pace that's best for you. I suggest that you sign up if you are looking for an online alternative for math.

Last spring, I realized that my son needed an extra semester of Algebra 1 in order to be successful in the 9th grade honors geometry class he wanted to take in high school. His small middle school had an excellent math teacher but no accelerated math class. The Match in a Box Algebra 1B class was a perfect fit! Mrs. Johnsey had Elwood take a placement test and she recommended her free course on factoring polynomials based on the test results. The free lessons were great. Elwood even showed some of his friends at school how to factor polynomials. By the summer, he was ready to take the Algebra 1B course. Mrs. Johnsey was a prompt grader and a reliable resource throughout. Elwood is now thriving in 9th grade honors Geometry. Best of all, he has become a person who puts the words "Algebra" and "fun" together!

I have really enjoyed the geometry part 1 course. I have learned a lot from it and it has taught me more than just geometry. She has helped me find more ways to become organized and more ways to study and do better in school. I would really recommend this class because I loved it and it really helped. Thank you Mrs. Johnsey!

I highly recommend Mrs. Johnsey to anyone! She explains the math very well and responds quickly to questions and assignments. I've taken Algebra 1a and 1b and I plan on taking Algebra 2. Thanks!

Ms. Johnsey is a joy. She manages to be both extremely professional and knowledgeable and yet with a warm and sparkly personality. She also makes you think your own way through your puzzlement about something, instead of just giving you the answer. I wanted to re-learn algebra in order to help my kids, and it had been decades since I first learned it. I've taken her two intermediate algebra courses now and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Much of the work has been challenging -- in particular the study of conic sections and binomial expansions -- but she always answers my questions thoroughly and quickly. Whenever I haven't understood her first explanation, she has explained it again a different way. My only complaint about her is that she doesn't offer more courses. I'd take pre-calculus from her in a heartbeat. I've told her that she doesn't charge nearly enough for all the work she puts in on a student's learning, but she's old school: enormous value for your hard-earned money. I highly recommend her classes for students and for their clueless parents, as well.

Mrs. Johnsey is a gift! I have taken Algebra 1A & 1B and just finished Algebra 2A. I plan on taking Algebra 2B and Geometry from her as well. I feel lucky to have found her and wouldn't recommend another online math teacher. She is worth a lot more than she charges! Thank you Mrs. Johnsey!

I would recommend students of any age to sign up for Ms. Johnsey's Algebra 1 course. It is a good way to start from the beginning if you are new to algebra or just want a basics refresher course. She responds to your email questions promptly which is one good feature of her course. I enjoyed the refresher course and plan to continue on and take her geometry course.

I would recommend anyone to this class Algebra i course. It is well taught. Ms. Johnsey is quick to respond to e mails and was willing to work through problems I didn't understand. She took my fear of word problems and changed it into a challenge that I am willing to face. The order of operations method made it very clear on how to do these problem as well as other methods she presented. I took this for as a refresher course. I plan on taking the other half of Algebra I and also II. I might even take the geometry class.

I'm taking the Geometry class from Mrs. Johnsey. She responds quickly to my questions on problems. She asks me questions so I can discover how to get the answers for myself rather than telling me answers outright. The format it easy to use and available anytime of day. I highly recommend her class to anyone wanting to learn high school Geometry.

ThankYou so much Mrs. Johnsey, It was a great semester. I learned a whole lot. The most unique and helpful part about this math, is the geometry collection you have us write out throughout the semester. It was a great help to me. ThankYou for responding quickly to any of my questions and assignments, and for helping me through any problems I had patiently.
I look forward to taking this class next semester :)
I would recommend this Math Class to anyone.

Susan Johnsey has been a very good guide in my pursuit of Algebra 1.
Four decades after high school Algebra, I decided to take up the subject mainly for mental exercise & “memory therapy” but, also, with a view to possibly learning more abstract topics, such as Calculus, which I have never before studied.
Susan offers supplemental & alternative explanations to those presented in the textbook. These have very much helped me to understand and integrate the material. Her “boxes” are great tools for concretely visualizing the mathematical concepts.
Susan’s communication & responsiveness are excellent. She responds very quickly to emails, questions and assignment submissions.
Being able to proceed through this course at my own pace has been a key to overcoming the “math jitters” and to achieving my goals.
I am enthusiastically looking forward to continuing these courses with Susan.

My son was having trouble understanding some of the concepts of Algebra I as taught by his high school teacher so we sought the tutoring services of Mrs. Johnsey. I'm pleased to report that this week he earned a B+ on his math final. He could not have passed the class without the tutoring. My son is excited to take the geometry class starting next week to get a jump on the fall. We've had lots of tutors and extra assistance and this is the best my far!!!

As an older student that hasn't taken math in many years I was looking for a good review course online. I found that Mrs. Johnsey's beginning algebra class was just what I needed to refresh my memory. Her online lessons are very helpful and she was very prompt in giving me feedback. I would highly recommend taking her classes online. I plan to take all of the courses she offers.

This was a great class. Mrs. Johnsey's lessons were clear and easy to follow. She quickly corrected assignments and always asked for clarification so I fully understood all concepts.

I was amazed how quickly she would respond to my emails and any questions I had.

I'm studying for a middle school licensure test. I was very happy with the first part of Algebra 2 and have signed up for the second half.

I would highly recommend this to students of all ages.

Mrs. Johnsey's classes are easy to follow and a great way to learn or review high school mathematics.

She is quick to respond to questions and corrects tests and homework on the same day. I succeeded in this class because there was someone correcting and looking at my work. She gave just enough advice for me to learn concepts.

Great format. I highly recommend this for students or teachers looking to take licensure exams.

I have taken quite a few classes with Mrs. Johnsey and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of online math classes, or even students who simply want to augment their school's classes or review for exams. The Math in a Box courses are well-structured and easy to follow. Plus they're self-paced, giving a flexibility which I found invaluable. Mrs. Johnsey has a wonderfully clear, straight-forward way of explaining mathematical concepts and I've noticed that her explanations 'click' much more in my head than the explanations in many textbooks. And she's always lovely to work with :)

Thank you, Mrs. Johnsey!

Mrs. Johnsey is an unbelievable teacher. I’m in my late 40s and was looking to re-study algebra before going back to school, and Mrs. Johnsey’s Algebra 2 course has exceeded my expectations. The course is easy to follow and Mrs. Johnsey’s problem sets ensure that you know the material before moving on. Importantly when you get something wrong she is almost always able to decipher why and then guide you to how to solve the problem on your own (so that you won’t forget!). Her wealth of experience really shows. Anyone considering an online course or tutoring (regardless of his or her age: young or old) should give Mrs. Johnsey a try. Lastly, I’ll point out that she really does not charge what she should for her courses. Between the grading of assignments and answering questions, she puts in so much work. Her passion for teaching is obvious. I feel lucky to have her as my teacher.
